道場禮儀與佛規禮儀—點佛燈(一)

Situation: Sandy and Mike bring their friend Jeff to the temple to consult Gina about Tao premises ritual and discipline.
場景：姍蒂以及麥克帶著好友傑夫到佛堂，向吉娜請教道場禮儀與佛規禮節。

 

Gina: We’ve learned how to level the incense ash; now we are about to learn how to light the Buddha lamps.

吉娜：傑夫，我們先前學習了平爐，現在我們再一起來學習點佛燈。

Jeff: Lighting the Buddha lamps, which is to make the lamp lit. Are there any lessons behind the action?

傑夫：點佛燈，就把燈點亮了就好，這有什麼哲理嗎？

Sandy: Jeff, there are three Buddha lamps in every temple, and each lamp stands for remarkable and distinctive meanings.

姍蒂：傑夫，在佛堂總共有三盞佛堂，每一盞佛堂都代表著殊勝的意義！

Mick: It’s true. Before performing the worship ceremony , we have to light every lamp with a sincere mind.

麥克：是啊，所以每次禮佛前，我們都要用恭敬的心，把每一盞佛燈點亮。

Sandy: Lighting the Buddha lamps lights not only the lamps but also our soul.

姍蒂：對，點佛燈不僅止於點燃佛燈，更重要的是同時也點亮自己的心燈。

Jeff: Our soul? What’s it? Where is the soul?

傑夫：心燈？這是什麼呢？在那裡？

Gina: The Buddha lamps in the temple respectively represent Mu Deng (Wu Ji)- the supreme heavenly world, Tai Ji- the spiritual heavenly world and Huang Ji- the material world.

吉娜：佛堂的三盞佛燈，分別代表理天的無極燈，還有氣天的太極，和人間的象極。

Mike: In addition to these meanings, the lamps also stand for our physical body, our heart and our spirit.

麥克：對這三盞佛燈也代表著我們的身、心、靈三個層次。

Sandy: The physical body is Huang Ji. The heart means our cultivation in Tao, which is Tai Ji. And the spirit represents Wu Ji.

姍蒂：身就是看得見的肉身是象極；心就是代表我們修持就是太極，而靈呢？就是先天的層次也就是無極。

Jeff: Wow! There are so many theories behind the action of lighting the Buddha lamps. I must learn the lessons from practice.

傑夫：哇！原來這麼的有哲理，那我一定要好好的體會與學習。

Gina: You’re right. Lighting the Buddha lamps is to remind us of the truth that all of us have our own lamp which is our soul.

吉娜：對的，所以點佛燈就是在提醒我們，我們每個人都有心燈，就是我們的天理良心。

Mike: Jeff, our soul is the original nature we possess. By performing the Ceremony for Worship in the temple, we must keep in mind that we are the master of our soul. Do not be influenced by the material world.

麥克：傑夫，天理良心就是我們純善的本心，藉著每次到佛堂來禮佛，一次次的光明，讓自己來做主人，不要被外在環境所影響。

Sandy: Well, performing the Ceremony for Worship is like the action of self-cleasning and it’s time to show our respect to all Buddhas.

姍蒂：是啊，每次禮佛，都代表一次的洗塵，也象徵著對老、諸天仙佛的尊敬。

Jeff: I see.

傑夫：原來如此。

Gina: Jeff, what is on your mind now ?

吉娜：傑夫，你現在專注的在想什麼呢？

Jeff: I now understand that there is a lamp in each person’s mind. That is to say it’s time for me to care for this lamp.

傑夫：後學在想，原來每個人的心裡都有一盞燈，看來後學得學習好好照顧這盞明燈！

Gina: Jeff, you definitely have the wisdom to cultivate Tao. Let’s light the Buddha lamps now!

吉娜：傑夫，你實在太有佛緣與慧根了，我們現在就開始點佛燈吧！
